- Gold will naturally tarnish when exposed to air pollution, moisture, and items that contain sulphur. However, it is possible to restore the shine of gold vermeil jewellery, so long as the plating has not worn away.
- Contact with perfume and cosmetic products can damage gold vermeil jewellery.
- Store in a safe, dry place, such as an anti-tarnish pouch or case, away from direct sunlight. This will help to protect your pieces when they are not being worn.
Cleaning gold vermeil
Clean any gold jewelry every few months, or more often if you wear the jewelry often.
- Combine a few drops of non-chemical dish soap and warm water in a small bowl.
- Dip a soft cloth in the cleaning mixture, and gently polish your jewelry.
- Rub any excess soap away with a soft cloth dipped in warm water.
- Gently pat the jewelry dry.
